EGYPTIAN MUSEUM IN CAIRO, APRIL 2017

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as Egyptian Museum, is home of the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. It has 136,000 items on display, with many more hundreds of thousands in its basement storeroom. Some part of Egyptian Antiquities we saw in The British Museum in London in Sept.1998. A lots of them are also spread in many private collection around the world. Among the most famous collection on display are the finds from the tomb of Tutankhamun, discovered in 1920 by the English Archeologist Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings around Luxor.
   The Egyptian Museum is situated at he heart of Cairo, adjacent to Tahrir (Liberation ) Square, the focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution against former president Hosni Mubarak. We spend the half of the second day in Cairo in the Museum, after visiting The Great Pyramids and the Sphinx in the morning. It was permitted to take photos and videos everywhere, but only in the small room with the Sarcophagus and the golden mask of Tutankhamun was forbidden. There were solders with guns inside. But the walls were transparent (glass) and I took photos from outside. All good photos are shown in this blog-album.
