THE HOLLY LAND OF ISRAEL 4 - TIBERIAS, CAPERNAUM AND JARDENIT, APR.2014

Herod, the last King of Judea built the city of Tiberias in 18 CE and named it for the Roman Emperor who ruled Judea this time. The crumbling remains of the 12th Century Crusader Castle overlook the Sea of Galilee. Pleasant beaches and historically and religiously sites grace the area, that’s surrounded the Sea of Galilee.
According the New Testament Jesus walked on the waters of the Sea of Galilee. The Church of the Bread and Fish in Tabghe is the site, where Jesus is said to have fed 5,000 pilgrims with 5 loaves and 2 small fish (Matthew 14:13-21). The Church of the Primacy of St. Peter commemorates the spot, where Jesus made Peter “Shepherd of his People”. Capernaum, the birthplace of  St .Peter  was the place, where Jesus healed Simon’s mother in law and the Roman centurion’s servant (Luke 4:31-37 and 7:1-10). Yardenit, The Gospel say that is the place  where  St. John baptized Jesus in Jordan River. We where baptized too there and  received a certificate for visitation of Baptismal site on the Jordan River in Yardenit on 04/28/2014.  Copy of this certificate is shown in the  end of this album.
