QUEBEC CITY 2, QUEBEC, OCT. 2016

Quebec City is the one of the oldest city in North America and the oldest in Canada, known like the Old Capital of French Canada. Over 95 % of population is French - speaking. English is second language here, like is French in the last 9 of all 10 provinces (states) in English speaking Canada. The name “Quebec” derives from Algonquin Indian name “Kebec”, meaning “the place where the river narrows.
Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain like fur-trading post on Cap Diamant, fist-class natural citadel. Perched atop Cap Diamant, it offers a spectacular view and control of St. Lawrence River. A few years later the Upper town extended to the inner limit of the fortification (La Citadelle), while the Lower town (Place Royal) stretched to the St Lawrence River bank.
Interesting places to visit are the Petit Champlein quarter, Place Royal and Notre-Dame-des Victoirs church all surrounded by historic buildings, which gives the area a 18th century flavor. The old quarter of Quebec was declared a Historic Heritage site by UNESCO in 1985. You must climb the Promenade to La Citadelle and the Plane of Abraham. Chateau Frontenac surely is the most representative symbol of Quebec, seen from the river and from everywhere. The Parliament building, where the Quebec National assembly meets and Grand -Allee with its numerous restaurants.
We with Margy visited Quebec City in the second part of October, accompanied by our family Check friend Radka. Our hotel was in the old city and we walked by foot to everywhere for 15-20 min. We booked sightseeing tour by top-Decker red buses, Country tour with the
We participate too in a Country Tour - excursion to Montmorensy water
falls and Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beupre, and Cruise-ship tour on the River St. Laurence.
We both with Margy have taken hundreds of photos everywhere, some of them about old Quebec are shown in album Quebec city 1, another photos about new Quebec are shown in this album Quebec City 2. The rest of them about County tour, La Citadelle and he Cathedrals are shown  in another separate albums .
