BASILICAS -CATHEDRALS AND CHURCHES IN QUEBEC, OCT.2016
Quebec Province is the only Catholic state on both Canada and USA. The city of Quebec consists of many Catholic churches, almost in every quarter. There are only 4 big Cathedrals in the city of Quebec:
1. Notre -Dame-de-Saint-Rock on Rue St. Josef Est - the largest one, similar to Norte-Dame de Paris, the best decorated of all cathedrals in Quebec;
2. Notre-Dame de Quebec - official Basilique - Cathedral of Quebec, the left tower unfinished;
3. Notre-Dame-De-la-Garde;
4. Notre-Dame-des-Victoires - the oldest one, build in 1688 on Place Royal by founders of Quebec City.
The oldest pilgrimage site in North America is The Shrine of Sainte-Anne-De-Beupre in the small town of Beaupre - 25 km. north of Quebec at the coast of St. Lawrence River. We visited it by bus in our country tour. There is "the Pieta"- marble sculpture of St. Mary and Jesus - an exact replica of Michelangelo's original in St. Peter Basilica in Roma, we saw for the first time in 1966 an later some more times. Similar copies we saw in the Lotus-Cathedral in BrasÃlia City in Brazil (2000) and in the Cathedral of Santiago in Chile (2013).
We entered in some small churches and were surprised, that one of them was transfered to Library, another one - to Antique srore ?!..., with old Gide-broker with long white beard, like some Saint...The best photos we have taken in all places are shown in this blog-album.
