The Giza Pyramid Complex includes the three pyramid complex, known as the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chefren and  Mykerinus, the massive stone sculpture known as The Great Sphinx, six small pyramids and some cemeteries. It is located in the Libyan Desert, approximately 9 km (5 ml) west of Nile River at the town of Giza, 13 km (8 ml) southwest of Cairo City Center. The Great Pyramids are one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient World, the oldest one and the only one still existing.  They are build by the Great  Pharaohs of Egypt about 5,000 years ago. The biggest one of them - of the Cheops is 146 ft  (44 m.) high and is build by 100,000 workers for 20 years.
The largest and the most famous sphinx is the Great Sphinx of Giza, adjacent of the Pyramids, southwest of them. The body of the sphinx is of Lion and the head of the Great Sphinx now is believed to be the head of the Great Pharaoh Khafra. The Great Sphinx has become an emblem of Egypt, appearing on its stamps. coins and official documents.
